In this tutorial we create an ellipse around two texts in After Effects that resizes instantly when you change, move or resize the texts. This is in particular useful for motion graphics templates where the design needs to update automatically when the template user replaces the texts.
Our layout is based on expressions, but instead of writing any expressions code manually, we create everything using the two extensions Pins & Boxes and iExpressions.
Pins & Boxes is a tool that all about automatic layout – if you do mogrts you definitely want to take a closer look at it! iExpressions is the swiss army knife for After Effects expressions. It contains a ton of ready to use expressions with intuitive interfaces and in this tutorial we use one of its expressions that can connect a bunch of layers with a smooth curve.
